Flomax is used for the LUTS (lower urinary tract symptoms) which are often present in a patient with enlarged prostate. Flomax does not make the prostate smaller (shrinking). You can read this topic from WebMD for more info - https://www.webmd.com/men/prostate-enlargement-bph/enlarged-prostate-supplements-remedies - but we do not give advice about supplements due to limited knowledge. 53 yr. old male/PSA 5.3. Urologists Digital rectal exam shows moderately enlarged prostate no lumps/nodules/hardening. Gave Flomax and retest PSA in 1 month. Urine/CBC normal. Can prostate cancer cause enlarged prostate without lumps, etc? Or BPH?
So drugs like flomax and such reduce the likelihood of getting prostate cancer? Or do they only address psa related symptoms?
