Frequently asked questions

Is HealthTap covered by insurance?

While some health insurance companies will cover a portion of the costs associated with a telehealth app, they are often considered "out-of-network." However, for most patients, their out-of-pocket cost is usually not much more than the cost of their regular office visit copay (or their deductible, if it hasn't been met yet). Pricing will vary from patient to patient, but HealthTap is more affordable than many other options.

What telemedicine services does HealthTap offer?

Every telemedicine provider offers a selection of medical services, depending on the type of doctors working for them. Here at HealthTap, our telemedicine app focuses on the options that are the most important to our patients — routine wellness, acute care, and the management of certain chronic health conditions.

For example, our experienced, licensed doctors can manage many specific patient needs, including:

  • Women's health (birth control pill management, bladder infections, vaginal yeast infections, menstrual cycle concerns, issues during menopause).
  • Men's health (some types of erectile dysfunction treatment).
  • Children's health (skin rashes, allergies, diarrhea or constipation, cold and flu symptoms)
  • Senior health (muscle or joint pain, chronic medication management).
  • Sexual health (some types of sexually transmitted infections).
  • Chronic health issues (diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure).
  • Behavioral health (mild depression, mild anxiety).
  • Urgent care telehealth (for minor non-emergency illnesses).

HealthTap also offers telemedicine urgent care video visits with our first available doctor, accessible within minutes when your primary care doctor isn't available. We offer telemedicine appointments weekdays, weekends, and even on some holidays.

How to find a good online doctor?

There isn't a clear definition of a "good doctor" — every patient values something different in their doctor (great empathy, good bedside manner, a specific skill, etc).

HealthTap understands that every patient is different, so many of our doctors record a greeting on their welcome page. This allows patients to get a better understanding of the type of virtual care they offer as well as their general personality.

It's like a "meet and greet" before choosing their "doctor on demand." It's a feature that most in-person providers don't offer, and it helps patients feel more secure and develop a trusting relationship with their chosen HealthTap primary care doctor.

My doctor was amazing #1. Being an OTR truck driver, and dealing with a bad connection, she was patient, attentive, and thorough. I have used multiple online sites which don't offer primary care, and you pay the same cost, and the majority of the prescriptions are not filled due to their coding. I am a diabetic, that can not make it home for an appointment. I have struggled for years with subpar walk in clinics that prescribed things I am allergic to, and simply gave up on treating my diabetes. The stress and anxiety your company has given me is simply priceless. Thank you!

My experience talking and discussing my health with my doctor was excellent. The website was easy to navigate. The representative to help me set up my appointment was very helpful.

I chose 10 because it gives patients/individuals the opportunity to seek the health issues that they're having especially when they're in a tight budget. It gives them a piece of mind and piece of relief that someone like doctors who are willing to take their time to help an individual. Having doctors give a piece of advice to individuals will honestly help them when they get to their actual doctor who has the resources needed to help such as endocrinologist or a physician.

Very friendly face to face with a great doctor asks all the right questions and is available whenever you need them so much better than sitting and waiting in a doctors office.
