Frequently asked questions

Can't I just order my online prescriptions? Why do I need an appointment?

Prescription medications can not be dispensed without consulting a physician. However, you can meet with an urgent care doctor for certain new medications and prescription refills online, or with your primary care doctor for all other needs. This can be done online via video chat on your phone or computer.

What medications can't be prescribed online?

Controlled substances cannot be prescribed online. Some examples of medications that cannot be prescribed online include: Stimulants (e.g. Adderall, Ritalin), antipsychotic medications (e.g. Seroquel, Zyprexa, Risperdal), sedatives and sleep aids (e.g. Xanax, Ambien, Ativan, Lunesta), and narcotics (e.g. morphine, oxycodone,Vicodin).

Antibiotics without seeing a doctor?

Antibiotics are prescribed by a doctor when needed. Antibiotics are the most common medication prescribed online. Certain antibiotics can cause side effects or allergic reactions, so it can be necessary to receive ongoing care from a doctor familiar with your medical history. The good news is that HealthTap doctors are available 365 days a year to see patients in need, without having to go to the doctor's office. Online prescription discount coupons are available to HealthTap subscribers with savings up to 75% on many medications.

How fast can I get a prescription online?

Online prescriptions are available from HealthTap video visits in most cases. Urgent care visits are available with the first available doctor – including evenings, weekends, and holidays, or you can make an appointment with your primary care doctor at a time that's convenient for you. Online prescription video consults generally last about 15 minutes and orders are sent to the local pharmacy of your choice within a couple of hours.

With or without insurance, your HealthTap doctor will help you get the medication you need at a price you can afford.

I came across HealthTap because it was on my Google Search and I just needed a prescription refill. I didn't expect to be so impressed with the doctor nor the ease of the app but I was. My doctor is what I was truly impressed by. My appointment was at 6am and she was happy, alert, kind, interested in actually helping me as a patient not a one time thing. I currently don't have insurance but even when I do get Insurance I'm convinced I'll still be a patient because of her!

It is convenient as one receives doctors consultation and prescriptions without necessarily going to queue in the hospital. Friendly doctor with a good rapport.

This is amazing. I struggled for months trying to find a doctor, before I heard about your service. It was easy and straightforward to sign up, and your doctor treated me in 15 minutes. I went out and got my prescription and already I can see an improvement in my health. I no longer have to worry about wait times, or messing up my busy work schedule. You offer both primary care and urgent care too which is amazing. Thank you so much!

I gained a lot of good information about when to take my medication and if I need to have food with it, tips on how to take my blood pressure, etc. Also a lot of helpful tips on managing pain.
