53 yr. old male/psa 5.3. urologists digital rectal exam shows moderately enlarged prostate no lumps/nodules/hardening. gave flomax and retest psa in 1 month. urine/cbc normal. can prostate cancer cause enlarged prostate without lumps, etc? or bph?

Prostate cancer can cause enlargement without nodule/hardening. One abnormal PSA is not diagnostic of Ca. Retesting and other tests need to be done for diagnosis. Psa is non specific and can be abnormal in both Ca and BPH. Your Urologist will also explain it when he/she sees you.
