Frequently asked questions

What kind of doctor is best for seniors?

We at HealthTap have a lot of respect for seniors and their unique healthcare needs, whether they are still living on their own (or with the assistance of home healthcare) or in long-term care facilities. Luckily, there are doctors who focus on the needs of the geriatric population.

Senior health care concerns seen by our doctors include:

  • Arthritis
  • Back pain
  • Bladder or urination issues
  • Join Pain
  • Knee pain
  • Multi-medication management
  • Routine health screenings
  • Stroke risk reduction
  • Senior nutrition

How do you treat joint pain in the elderly?

One of senior citizens' most common health conditions is joint pain and stiffness — especially in their knees, backs, and hands. Luckily, our virtual primary care physicians at HeathTap focused on senior health care will know the most up-to-date options for managing these issues and keeping our senior patients as comfortable as possible.

Does HealthTap have an online doctor that focuses on seniors' health?

At HealthTap, we prioritize offering exactly the type of care our patients need, when they need it, from the privacy of their own homes. We offer online doctor visits with trained, knowledgeable Family Medicine or Internal Medicine doctors with the click of a button.

Our providers can manage general wellness and and advise about preventative care for older adults plus treat certain types of chronic health conditions (including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and gastrointestinal disorders).

However, be aware that there are some issues that our HealthTap team cannot manage. We can not handle mental competency or disability certifications, elder abuse cases, complex post-surgical guidance or order medical equipment, which would need to be managed by an in-person doctor.

How can seniors talk to a doctor online?

Seniors today are far more technologically savvy than ever, so scheduling a telemedicine appointment with HealthTap is as simple as can be. All they need to do is access our easy-to-use website and follow the prompts.

From there, they'll be connected to a video visit with a HealthTap doctor who can help them with their concerns — whether managing medications or discussing new symptoms.

Unfortunately, we are unable to take Traditional Medicare or any Medicaid insurance plans at this time. However, our doctors are out-of-network providers for most other health insurance plans, plus many patients can use health savings accounts or flexible spending accounts for payment.

What is a good app to download for senior health from a doctor?

HealthTap also offers an easily downloaded app that seniors (as well as caregivers, loved ones, and family members approved by the patient) can use to access senior health care on demand. The healthcare system can be tricky to navigate, but our app puts quality, in-home senior healthcare far more accessible, no matter where our patients are located.
