Hi there,my dad had a 12 hr urine retention due to known bph about a year back. he was put on catheter. few days later hospital removed it after u/s. i am not sure if they also did u/s of kidneys. but now he has urothelial cancer in one kidney?

Those 2 conditions are unrelated. Urothelial carcinoma is usually in the ureter, not the kidney and it may not be detected last year even if your dad had kidney ultrasound at that time.

Even if they did Ultrasound of the kidney ( tho you do not know that) it would not have picked up urothelial cancer of the kidney. I hope he does well
