100% loss of smell and taste on day 6 of mild covid infection. i cook for a living and im terrified this will not come back?! i keep reading about people who never get it back. what is the actual likelihood of that? this is my first time with covid?

Do not believe the garbage you read. 65% of the people regain the smell and taste in 12 months and 95% in 2-3 yrs. Overwhelming chance you might get it sooner and continue to be a good cook. Wishing you well.

When smell and/or taste are impaired by covid, usually they clear up within 2-3 weeks. It can take longer, but permanently altered smell or taste are uncommon. Discuss with your doctor, or if any doubt continues, ask for referral to an infectious diseases specialist. Good luck.
