A member asked:

Hi, i am really nervous!! last year i was pregnant and i had my first pap smear, my pap smear came abnormal with ascus and hpv mrna e6e7 was detected.does hpv mrna e6e7 mean cancer? can hpv mrna e6e7 go away on its own without causing cervical cancer?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"ASCUS with HPV MRNA E6E7 " can be diagnosed by colposcopy, with a cervical biopsy if indicated. See your gyn physician for an exam and colposcopy, as there are other strains of HPV which can progress to malignancy. HPV is very contagious, and you may have contacted other varieties.
