A member asked:

I have had hpv for 2 years. not any of the ones that cause cervical cancer. dr recommended colpos last year and this year for persistent hpv. no dysplasia. colps are painful for me. is it possible to just repeat pap in 6 months instead of colpos?

With no dysplasia or other cellular changes related to HPV, continued watchful waiting -- follow-up paps alone without colposcopy -- might make sense. However, every case is different, and you should not make a decision based on this or any other distant forum opinion. Discuss with your doctor; if uncertainty continues, seek a second opinion from another ObG. Good luck.
