Many reasons: There are multiple reasons as to why you have pain and/or sensitivity, -- did you have deep decay removed... Was there cracked tooth syndrome diagnosed?... Is your periodontal and gum health in good condition... Is there recession and sensitive root near the margin of the crown... All are important, ask your dentist to check it out and take a radiograph as well, test tooth thermally as well.

Possible gum recessi: It's possible that your gums pulled away a little bit while you were wearing a plastic temporary crown, and now you have a very sensitive spot on your root surfaces. If the sensitivity goes on for longer than 2-3 weeks, tell your dentist about it. You can also try some desensitizing toothpastes like sensodyne in that area.

Gums?: If it is your gums that hurt every time, i would check and make sure there was no permanent cement that was accidentally left behind. This would be one of the easiest things to fix. I am sure your dentist would want to know what is going on and would be more than happy to make it feel good.
