A member asked:

Psa went from 4.0 to 5.3 in 15 mo. had ranged from 3.9-4.1 in the two years prior. free psa is 35; dre conducted end of july was normal. urologist reviewing now. would you recommend retest or biopsy now, based on psa velocity?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Psa velocity is only relevant in cases of Ca. Free psa report is a good sign. There are other blood and urine tests that can be done. Biopsy decision should be based on factors like family history, rectal findings and your comfort with a high PSA level and your Urologists opinion. Good luck
