I need root canal on top premolar because of a very deep filling now pressing on the nerve. if i was able to get numb with usual infiltration for the deep filling. should i have no issues getting numb? i worry about needing painful palate injection?

No worries, buccal infiltration usually works but if a palatal injection is needed the pain/pressure lasts for only a second or two.

Even if required it only takes a few seconds. Yes it may require a short period of discomfort, but an infected tooth can be dangerous.
