A member asked:

Got a root canal(which really wasn't bad) with a permanent filling. dentist said i should eventually get a crown. the tooth is still kind of fragile now even with permanent filling because of the root canal. would it be ok in 1mth to get a crown?

Yes, it's fine to wait 1 month but get the crown as soon as possible. Until then, you will want to stay with soft foods to avoid fracturing the tooth because it is more brittle. Without a crown, you risk root fracture of the tooth which may not be repairable. Take care!

In order to gain direct access to al of the canals in the roots, a fair amount of tooth material has to be removed from the inside of the crow, weakening the crown walls and leaving the tooth more susceptible to fracture, especially as removing plural tissues causes tooth to dry from inside-out. Standard of care is place crown ASAP.
