The primary teeth can be extracted under local anesthesia, but if the child is not compliant, the pediatric dentist or oral surgeon will not be able to safely treat the child. This is a very difficult situation for all involved, and it's probably best to follow the recommendations of the dentists to avoid traumatizing the child.

General anesthesia is probably the safest and most comfortable choice for a child that'smon the Spectrum. In section must be treated ASAP. The sounds, smells, and tactile sensations may be to difficult for the child to manage. Discuss your concerns with the child's Pediatric Dental Specialist and/or specialist Oral Surgeon. Then make sure child has regular dental care to prevent another episode.
