The doctor prescribed an antibiotic penicillin two tablets of 250 mg 4 time per day throat infection. is it 2grams a normal prescription? is it possible to start with a low dosage and after increase the dose?

Was a throat culture positive for strep? If so, 250 mgs 4 times daily( every 6 hours) for ten days should eradicate the infection. Antibiotics are ineffective in viral throat infections.
