I started rowing regularly three months ago added to 2years of 10,000 steps/day. vegan diet 2 years my bp is 110/58 (after stopping losartan 2 weeks ago) can exercise and diet lower my bp so i can go off diuretic as well? my rn says no?

It is certainly possible at one point to not need anymore medications for hypertension (with significant and consistent lifestyle interventions). However this is on a case by case basis. Even if you still need medications, most patient are able to reduce the doses of BP medications. With such consistent lifestyle interventions you also get multiple other benefits for your health. Congrats!

Yes if you move to the DASH diet you may be able to stop diuretics as well. Discuss with your nurse and recommend she read up on DASH diet. She may have recommended it but probably never checked urine Na/K to see if the patients were DASHING. On average it lowers systolic in one week and diastolic in two.
