A member asked:

Good morning doctors. i take losartan hctz 100mg and metoprolol er 100mg. would it be better (or not better) for my blood pressure control to have both medications with a diuretic/water pill?

There are numerous anti-hypertensives on the market and treatment is often very individualistic depending upon specific health characteristics. This is NOT "one size fits all". Unclear why you might ponder a change to your current drug regimen. Contact your doctor who knows you best, and directly ask what is the preferrable approach for you.

Adding a diuretic to those medications may or may not improve blood pressure control, depending on one’s doctor’s judgment and how a person responds. If one is prescribed all of those medications together, they may be taken at the same time or different times a day – however a person is instructed to take them.
