Good afternoon doctors. i have a dentist question. when i get a gum scaling every three to four months, i often get bleeding from the gums. i am on plavix and 81mg aspirin. is it normal for gums to need after scaling, if one is on plavix and aspirin!

Yes: Yes, it is normal for gums to bleed after scaling and even more common when one is taking Plavix and aspirin. But you can also ask your dentist the next time you have this procedure.

Bleeding: 81mg aspirin will have little effect. Plavix, a blood thinner, can cause bleeding. But so can the reason you're having root planing & curettage done every 3-4 months, infected gums. Tarter under the gums can irritate gum tissues. Help yourself, brush 2x/day for 2 full minutes by the clock...use a timer. Floss or WaterPik DAILY to clean the 33% of tooth structure that a t'brush can't reach.
