My pcp is referring me to a hematologist for platelets at 117. i am worried, since it is in an oncologist office. all other levels are normal. what could be a few causes?

Low platelet: If you had a normal CBC and platelet before, platelet of 117,000 may be a transient event (normal 150,000). This number is not dangerous. Certainly, it is good idea to see a doctor and repeat CBC at some point. Some common causes include infection (viral, etc), inflammation, drug-induced or etc.
