I recently was told to see a hematologist for a platelet count over 450k. all other levels normal. i havent been feeling well. should i be worried?

No: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, seeing a hematologist is prudent. It may be as simple as iron deficiency that is easily treatable.

Need more informatio: The platelet count elevated with other indexes in the Complete blood count is likely a sign of inflammation that can be elevated with viral or other infections. The pattern is also important.Has it been trending up or down or staying the same.If been that way for years with no change Dont worry-monitor.If trending down,I would follow to make sure normalizes.if just one draw, recheck it in 2 weeks.
