Yes, a hematologist : Yes, a visit with an hematologist is correct. Sometimes platelets will be increased because of an inflammatory condition or as you said from iron deficiency. A count of 547, 000 is not worrisome. Counts that exceed or approach 1, 000, 000 are a problem and can be associated with bone marrow issues. Good luck.
