A doctor has provided 1 answer

Sleeve not rec./GERD: The two most common types of bariatric surgery are gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy. Gastric bypass resolves symptoms of GERD in a large majority of patients. However, a sleeve gastrectomy can sometimes make GERD symptoms continue or worsen – so it is generally not recommended for people with severe GER. long-term effects include bowel obstruction, dumping syndrome, Gallstones,& malnutrition.
