Not easy: That is a complex question and depending on your goals and overall health should be discussed with your doctor. A good balanced diet would be the easiest place to start. Consider interval training with short periods of high intensity activity. This is a method that has been shown to increase basic metabolic rate.

Nutrient dense foods: Eat foods that are nutrient dense (like meat, fish, poultry, eggs, cheese, low starch vegatables and water) avoid foods that are not nutrient dense (like starches and sugars, including fruit) nutrient dense foods will increase your basal metabolic rate. On the other hand, starches and sugars impair thyroid metabolism via affects on your liver (which helps activate thyroid hormone).

You Wanna Get High?: The more you exercise the more your metabolism will ramp-up (to a limit, of course), especially if you do sprints 2-3 times a week. You'll notice it takes longer to cool down. Your basal metabolism will be increased in general and with the development of more muscle it will go higher (it takes a lot more energy to metabolize muscle than fat). Please don't do it with drugs. You'll regret it.
