Gout treatment.: What is your brother taking? If it's Prednisone, then it should have helped fairly quickly. If it's Indomethacin, then it may help but may take longer. Other medications for gout, like Uloric, should not be taken in an acute flare. If pains are persisting regardless, maybe it's not really gout. Get him re-evaluated.
