Examination: How did you injure your ankle? I need more information to say what the nature of injury is. I would suggest you get your ankle examined by a clinician for an accurate diagnosis

Hard to Say. But...: It would most likely be damaged to the extent that bruising has occurred. That would indicate that some level of soft tissue injury has happened. There is no way of knowing if a fracture has occurred unless an x-ray is taken. Until more definitive levels of damage can be identified, it would be best to elevate, brace and protect the foot until you see a specialist.
