Bone bruise: Could be a bone contusion due to your description. Because everyone's pain tolerance is different, it's hard to tell if it's worse (like a fracture, etc). Discoloration like a bruise means there's swelling and probably damage to surrounding tissues (minimal to moderate). Advice, stay off for at least 2 weeks. If pain gets worse, see a doctor and refer to a podiatrist.

Get an xray: First, you should get an xray to rule-out a fracture. The numbness could be from a contusion our bruise to the sural nerve which runs behind and below the ankle bone. Rice: rest, ice, compression and elevation. See your podiatrist or orthopedist. If it is not broken, symptoms should resolve within a week or two.

Get it diagnosed: You may have a soft tissue or bony injury. You shoud have an x-ray taken. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.
