I am presently taking asacol (mesalamine) (mesalazine) for collagenous colitis, can i take ibuprofen? or will this damage my kidneys?

No NSAIDs: Ibuprofen may worsen your colitis and would not be recommended at this time. Talk to your prescribing physician for alternatives.

Not a good idea: Ibuprofen can increase the chance of kidney damage with Asacol. So can other anti-inflammatory agents like aspirin and and naprosyn (naproxen). It is not a good idea to take them together. In addition, anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen can make colitis worse so it is best to take acetaminophen if you need something for pain.
