A member asked:

My daughter has been dx'd as having mild scoliosis by gp. is this a painful condition? she is almost always having back pain. also what can be done?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mild S not painful.: Mild scoliosis is not generally painful in itself. It is possible that something else is causing pain in her back which is giving her muscle spasm on one side of the spine giving the appearance of scoliosis. Alternatively, she may have mild scoliosis in addition a chronic back pain condition, often from poor posture or deconditioning. Try PT first, and if not successful, look for other causes.
