Scoliosis : Scoliosis can be one of a number of causes for posture problems. Posture doesn't cause the spine curvature.

No: Scoliosis is a lateral curvature. Poor posture can cause pain and other back and neck problems though, so proper posture is recommended.

Chicken or egg: Does she have bad posture? Or scoliosis causing the appearance of bad posture? If she is premenarchal, hasn't reached her growth spurt, have someone do a forward bending (adams) test and x-rays if indicated.
