My 8yr old daughter has a very swollen/blocked red sublingual gland for few days and is very painful. can it 'unblock' or should i visit our gp?thanks

Salivary gland pain: Infections of the salivary glands can be either viral or bacterial and can result in abscess which would require medical treatment. Symptoms may improve by swishing and spitting with warm salt water and increasing salivation, but if improvement is not noted then a GP visit is warranted.

Salivary gland: It is a good Idea to see your GP since the concern I have is infection, which will warrant use of antibiotics. That may calm down the swelling and lead to penning of the duct
