Insurance: Health insurance will pay for excision of overhanging skin if it is severe and hangs way down. Pictures sent to the insurance company may help.

They wont: 'tummy tuck' commonly known is an abdominoplasty and includes removal of redundant skin or pannus, as well as tightening the muscles/fascia in the midline and repositioning the belly button. 'panniculectomy' is something that insurance may cover, but that is excision only of the overhanging skin or pannus. Often you need to document failure of medical treatment and issues such as chronic rashes.

Not reliable: Insurers make it their business to avoid bills to increase their own profits. It is easy for them to avoid such a bill afterward. They simply decide after surgery to deny payment and then you get the bill. There is no reliable way to get an insurer to pay for cosmetic surgery. Some insurers pay for lesser surgery (a pannus resection, ) but these operations are limited in benefit.

Not usually.: Insurance companies generally do not cover tummy tuck surgery. However, sometimes panniculectomy surgery is covered. Depending on your situation, best to check with your specific insurance company. Best wishes.

Not likely: Insurance might pay for a "panniculectomy", which is the simple excision of a large hanging apron of skin, but in 15 years of practice, I have never yet seen them approve a cosmetic tummy tuck, including muscle repair, lifting of the lower and upper abdominal flap and creation of a nice, tidy belly button.
