What are the symptoms of insanity?

Insanity: Insanity is not actually a medical diagnosis and so does not have a set of "symptoms" that characterize it. Rather it refers to a severely disordered state of mind; an unsound mind leading to an inability to understand limiting ones legal capacity, as in to stand trial. Such a mental state could occur in many conditions leading to alteration in brain function.
