No: If the ultrasound is normal without nodules or masses, i wouldn't worry about thyroid cancer. The dull pain might be inflammation, lymph node from recent infection, sore throat, muscle tension...But don't worry about thyroid cancer right now.

Cancer: Thyroid cancer is usually painless. If you have thyroid pain it is usually due to infection -- usually viral. You can take analgesics and see if the pain is relieved.
