Reevaluation: Your daughter needs to be reevaluated for her issues, preferably by an orthodontic specialist if her current dentist is unable to address them.

Recheck with dentist: There are several causes for temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ). It sounds that your daughter's is due to malalignment of her jaw (under-bite?), and she's already being treated with corrective braces. Possibly the braces need adjustment, or they simply need more time to work. Your dentist can advise you, so you and your daughter should talk it over with her dentist. Hope that helps.

TX can vary: The cause of your tmj/tmd, if known and the duration of your problem, may dictate the treatment. Often treatment for TMJ can vary from person to person and also may sometimes involve seeing other doctors. Physical therapy, tens, ultrasound therapy, exercises, and mouthpieces are the most standard types of treatment. You may need combinations of all.

I'm so sorry: Sounds like your Dentist may have attempted treatment without benefit of full specialty residency training. Your daughter needs to see a fully qualified Orthodontic Specialist as soon as possible.

Go back: Go back to the dentist or see a Prosthodontist to evaluate and treat the bite problem. good luck.
