Periodontist question: do alloderm gum grafts usually lead to any added vertical millimeter covering of teeth roots?

That's the intention: Alloderm has several uses in periodontal surgery: root coverage, gingival augmentation, soft tissue ridge augmentation, soft tissue augmentation around implants. The procedure is relatively successful in competent surgical hands, proper case selection and with patient cooperation.
