A member asked:

In the hands of a competent periodontist how traumatic to a patient is a 2 tooth gum grafting with alloderm due to recession?

Little trama: The grafting surgery has been done for many years with great success. Use of alloderm material in grafting allows for less trama since there will be no additional surgical site to harvest the graft gingiva. There is minor discomfort following with a few restrictions. Follow your doctor's orders. These are highly successful corrections. Two teeth graft site is considered simple.

Surgery: You are talking about a very limited plastic surgical procedure in a very highly sensitive area, the mouth. Periodontists are masters at doing this type of surgical reconstruction. The periodontist will also instruct you on appropriate post-surgical care. Best thing you can do is make sure surgical area is immaculately clean before and after the surgery (don't forget to floss).
