A member asked:

For gum grafting, some periodontists recommend cadaver tissue, the roof of the patient's mouth, and lanap. which of these three is the best?

Seek second opinion: Gum grafting does not always help solve the problem that you might have. I would advice you to seek a second opinion from another periodontist before you get into doing this procedure which does not have a high success rate and it tends to be an expensive exercise. That is what I would recommend and then weight the various options based on the two opinions.

Gum grafting: Your own tissue is the gold standard. Alloderm or Perioderm also work but not as well. Grafting is highly successful if done properly
