A member asked:

I need two gum grafts. recently my periodontist has used cadaver instead of the roof of my mouth. i heard the roof of mouth is better. is that true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Gum grafts: Allograft material (donor material other than yours) is acceptable and prevents the dentist or periodontist from creating 2 wound sites. IF the problem is lack of attached tissue, the graft is needed to increase the band of attached tissue. Ask your dentist if she/he is aware of the Pinhole Surgical Technique for root coverage.
