Not sure: Not sure why people get anxiety way before the time of performance. Some people get hit by it harder than others, it depends on individual's perceptions.

Performance anxiety: Is what it sounds like you are describing. Lots of people experience it. Actors, actresses, musicians, and just people like you or me who have to speak in front of groups. One can be anxious in anticipation and /or be anxious during the actual event. There is help! talk to your doctor about seeing a psychiatrist-- different types of meds help the different aspects of anxiety; therapy also helps.
