Depends on type : A low carb diet might have 5-10% of calories as carbs. I am not big of counting calories but the biggest problem I have with your question is not all carbs are created equal- mimimize sugars/starches/simple carbs but complex carbs in veggies, beans, nuts and low-glycemic fruits do not need to be avoided.
