See the dentist: Generally a 1 week post operative appointment is scheduled to check progress of healing and/or complications.

Pain: First stay ahead of the pain with 800 mg ibuprofin 3xday for the next 4 days whether you think you need it or not. Rinse the area well with hot salty water to help keep it clean 3xday and see your dental surgeon to be sure another issue has not popped up.

7-10 days: Most oral surgeries take about 3 days to reach maximum discomfort, and 7-10 days for general resolution of pain. If it lasts longer, or gets more intense after 3 days, see your surgeon promptly.
