Not unusual: This is not that unusual but if the area is throbbing or you have fever or the chills a visit to the surgeon may be indicated to check for infection. Warm salt water rinses and more healing time might help as well. If there are stitches they can be an irritant until removed. Time heals all wounds, but not in the presence of infection! good luck!

See oral surgeon : You should not be experiencing significant pain in this area unless there were extenuating circumstances at the time of surgery. Contact your oral surgeon and have him/her take a look. You could be developing an infection.
