Fatty tumors: Or lipomas can be painful or tender.  But how can you be sure it is a lipoma?  It could be another kind of tumor, say of a nerve, such as neurolemmoma.  Or it could be a hernia.  Sometimes its difficult to tell.  If symptoms are getting worse or the mass is enlarging, time to see a doctor.

Short time.: If lesion is benign such as bone cyst or benign cartilage tumor it may be unrecognized for many  months.  If malignant, the lesion will expand and produce pressure on rib periosteum which can cause significant pain, especially if it is metastatic.

You need an exam: If it is a new finding along your rib, you need a plain xray to start with.

I could guess but...: Many people have curiously-shaped costal arches and occasional one or more arches may detach -- but any mass that you discover is worth a physician's office visit. I wouldn't want to be the one here who urged you to wait with a serious bone tumor. Good luck.

i have pressure in my left rib cage and pain in my back, i was diagnosised with anxiety and im convinced i have everything that can be wrong is this pressure from my anxiety or do i have a tumor? and my left ribs stick out.

A special case...: It's a special case when a patient is diagnosed with anxiety and convinced that he has everything that can be wrong. In such a case, the patient should get information from a single, trusted primary care doctor. If the patient gets additional ideas of other possible but unlikely diseases, then the patient will have many many more things to be anxious about (more info can lead to worse anxiety).

50 yr old female. for a few months when i bend or twist it feels like something is moving in my upper abdomen, maybe under my rib cage. is this a tumor? there is no pain. it is on the left upper side. very odd. i call it clicking but is soft?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests.  It could be air/gas in the stomach. If you gained weight recently, that may be contributing to the symptoms.  It would be prudent to see a doctor at your convenience.

Find out more: You need to find out more about the benign tumor that you have mentioned on the rib cage. Your doctor should be bale to guide you further, both in terms of pain control and resolve or remove the so called benign tumor if this lesion is felt to be the cause of your pains.

will a benign fatty tumor compounded by scoliosis near left rib cage show up on a chest ct scan? feels like when i turn it wants to lock up on me.

Possibly : Ct scan could potentially show a lipoma, but it does not show soft tissues in the spine real well.  A better test that readily demonstrates soft tissue structures is an MRI.
