Podiatry (or podiatric medicine) is the field devoted to the study of, diagnosis, and medical treatment of disorders of the foot and ankle. A podiatrist is a doctor of podiatric medicine (dpm), also known as a podiatric physician or surgeon, qualified by his/her doctorate level education and residency training to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the foot, ankle and related structures.
