No reason to freak: Like any other doctor he/she will take your history and exam your feet and ankles. After discussing the problem he/she will offer a treatment plan to take care of your problem he/she may order diagnostic tests.

No need to freak.: After filling out some paperwork, including information about your medical history, allergies, medications you take, the doctor will ask you about your particular foot problem and perform a basic thorough examination of your feet. Skin will be examined, the circulation and neurological status will be checked, sometimes an x-ray will be taken, all to help diagnose and formulate a treatment plan.
