If you had syphilis before you took the azithromycin, it might have cured it. Most but not all syphilis responds well to azithromycin. If exposed more than 2 weeks after completing azithromycin, but not within 4-5 weeks of the blood test, the negative result shows you do not have syphilis at this time, either because it was cured or you never had it.
