Hello dear doctors! I am sorry for asking this question. Does doxycyline for 10 days prevent syphilis infection if you taken this med about 13 days post exposure?
I realize doxycycline for 2 weeks 2x100mg/day can treat primary syphilis. But what about incubating syphilis (before any symptoms present)? Could starting 10 days of doxycycline (2x100mg/day) within 24-48hrs post exposure prevent infection?
Why wouldn't taking zithromax an hour after sex, prevent the infection of chlamidia? As your body would have the antibiotic in it already.
I had exposure to syphilis. 20 days later, I started Azithromycin 1g followed by Doxy 100mg BD dose. On 10th day of Doxy course, if I shared a cigarette with someone when i had a very small stomatitis on lower lip, have I exposed her to syphilis?
