Water retention: A lot of that weight is likely water, especially if last night's meal was very salty. Some of it is just the weight of the food. If you resume healthy eating immediately, that weight will probably disappear in a day or two.

Fluid : Retention is usually the cause of overnight increases in weight. This often has to do with salt intake ( salt will cause thirst which leads to fluid weight).

Some thing missing: There is something missing. You can't gain 5.5 lbs in a night. May be your scale is off ! you may be weighing this time with clothes and shoes on. If this is an other scale then one of the two scales is not functioning. You have to weigh with same scale, same time and same your presentation. Thanks.
