Petechiae tongue associated with hiv?

Low platelet, petech: If you are HIV + and now see some petechiae in your mouth/tongue- you really need to check your complete blood count to see how low your platelet is. Hiv is associated with low platelet/itp. When the level is significantly low, you can start seeing petechiae. If the level is very low- some work-up abosulutely needs to be done and treatment as indicated should be given as well.
