Vegetarians and B12: Vegetarians should supplement with B12 regularly. B12 is water soluble, so you could use it daily. Probably better would be to use a sublingual B12. I also recommend that you use methylcobalamin instead of cyanocobalamin.

No: If you can absorb B12 normally, this should be part of your regular oral nutritional supplement. Vegetarians may also do well to take iron, vitamin D and a few others. If and only if you have a problem absorbing B12, for example if you've had pernicious anemia, do you take monthly B12 shots.
